The term "spirits" in regards to chemistry is historically rooted hundreds of years back in the works of middle Eastern alchemists.  During an alchemical process such as distillation, a steam was formed and collected, and the vapor was referred to as the spirit of the ingredients being released; a ghost of the original materials so to speak.  While the crow moniker in our name is after Joe's father, it also should be noted that crows and ravens have historical myths attached to them as being a creature with the ability to traverse between the real world and the world of the dead, sometimes credited with carrying the spirits of the recently deceased over to the afterlife. We've taken those myths and legends and melded them together, as now the crow carries the spirits of our Michigan grains from the heat of our still to our custom bottles and finally right into your hands.
